Off-Campus Approval 2024-2025

HIU is home to our traditional, residential undergraduate program. We believe that our unique educational outcomes are best realized when students live and learn in community; therefore, we expect all students to live on campus unless they live at home with parents, is married or caring for dependent children, is at least 22 years of age before the start of fall classes, or has served in the military. Housing charges may be assessed to ineligible students who are found living off-campus in violation of this policy. Additionally, some scholarships may be revoked if a student willfully violates this policy. An example of a common violation might include applying to live at home with parents but securing an apartment and residing at another address. Exemptions are good for one academic year and must be resubmitted if the circumstances for which an exemption was granted changes.
